Sculptor and metal craftsman who specialized in religious art; born in Germany and studied in Berlin, before moving to Palestine (1933-1947) and then teaching for two years at the Bezalel School for Arts and Crafts. After he arrived in San Francisco (1947), he taught at the College of Marin and at the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC) in Oakland.
